Well, I think it’s an overreach to say that the leak supports the conclusion of Trump being controlled opposition.
It specifically states that they wanted to elevate Trump and Cruz to push the party to the far right on immigration during the primary.
The logic being that Jeb was the primary opponent… and that he would be unable to pivot back the center in the general vs HRC.
That strategy does not require Trump or Cruz to be directly involved, and the leak doesn’t prove this at all.
That being said I believe the dnc contacted trump through his lawyer Cohen (a mutual acquaintance of trump and HRC) and tipped him off as to what they were doing.
If Trump were really controlled oppo he would have tossed the race towards the end and given it to HRC. Instead he fought hard and basically backstabbed everyone who promoted him and thought he would just spin it into some political media operation.
I think Trump genuinely tried to change the system from within… and something happened at some point that gave them additional leverage over him.
I think they had sexual (from past sexual impropriety) and financial blackmail on trump but that neither of these ended up being sufficient on their own.
Something else happened towards the end of his term.
There is something else going on here. Either it's Trump trying to increase his "win rate" looking at the polls, or he knows that he's got something one over on the guy.
Trump is clearly controlled at this point.

According to the DNC, Trump was on a short list of controlled opposition candidates.
He was a long supporter of the Clinton's. Friends with Bill. Golf buddies.
Life long Democrat donor. Registered to vote Democrat in NY.
All he did was change his tie and hood winked everyone who became MAGA raged.
Never bought into him.
He is an actor after all.
