But we already have 4chan, and those sites are actually harder to use, and less reliable.
Finding actual information on image boards, is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Which is why we need to find their reposts elsewhere, on sites such as the .win network.
Sure they have their usefulness, but those sites already exist.
Right. Because they aren't designed for research. They are designed for conversations that self expire. Only the most autistic are capable of using them to present information to any effect.
What you are thinking of, is a standard forum format. Linear without threads, but possessing a permanent record.
For reasons related to the endorphin feedback loop, and the dominance of smart phones. People refuse to use them, in spite of their clear usefulness.
Combine the standard forum format with: a permanent record, embedded images and videos, functionality like the extension 4chanx for 4chan i.e. show preview of off-screen replies when you hover over the code, previews of images, and custom filters... and I'd be sold.
This place better get embedded images soon - I find not having it very restricting.
The Chans are full of glowies trying to create and catch the next mass shooter while distributing illicit porn and arresting people for having been exposed to it.
I am not speaking of this site in particular, but what I think happens more often is that there are sockpuppet accounts on multiple sides of an issue. Often, rather than promoting "one side" over another, they instead fabricate discussion between themselves to give the readers certain take-away information that is flawed.
