“This Episode really gets to the root Philosophical issue of how one see’s the world. Are we Mice, or are we Men?
Mice are warm blooded creatures that function at a primitive level. Lock then up in a closed environment with all the food and water they can eat (which is physically impossible in the real world), and they breed to the point of over population. One would not need to “think” to hard (something that man does), in order to see (understand), that most real world variables have been “Locked out” of the Experiment that appears to be serving as the foundation for World Population Models.
Man on the other hand, has the ability to “Think”, and thus not only change his existing Environment, but (through the process of multi-generational accumulated knowledge) the Environment of Generations to come.
When has a Mouse been show to Care about the world it’s off-spring will live in?
Indeed, Behavioral Experimentation on Mice (or even Monkeys) can only be shown to have a correlation to human behavior if the self appointed elites can induce, Fear, or Hunger, or induce some other means of control in order to distract the humans from thinking.

Nailed it there, we can learn from this experiment but it's not 100% proof of what's going to happen. Even the smallest of variables can change the outcome.
They assumed they were providing the mice with a "utopia". Utopia is a human idea, a flawed one at that. The mice don't believe, want, or even have a concept of what humans call utopia.
Much was left out, including competition, untimely death, and other hurdles to be overcome by the animal which lends way to the survival talents, consciousness and soul. The "utopia" given to the mice was not fit for the animals to learn these important lessons from the Mother Nature interface. Their DNA was literally taking in no new knowledge, no evolution, no new patterns. They lashed out at their prison.
They torture prisoners by using the same redundant patterns over and over, like when it was revealed they would play an Eminem song repeatedly to prisoners. Pop music all has the same pattern. The hive mind is also a system where the majority of people fall into repeatable, predictable patterns, where they become easy to control. This is what Plato's allegory of the cave was about and his work "The Republic" which our society is modeled after.
Science industry produces a study -> people believe it because science is accurate. Repeat this 10,000 times. The Hive Mind can now be controlled with the word "science".
