I just can't fathom how companies like that are even allowed to operate. I'm sure at this point it basically would be a "national security" concern if Goldman Sachs was ever unraveled, so ingratiated with the government as they are.

Currency defined by the usury cartel aka fictitious value; suggested to mankind as real value, to trick each of them to ignore that ONEs free will of choice to evaluate ALL is what represents the highest value in existence...participation in it with the free will of choice to evaluate all of it.
Money devalues existence, because the majority believes that it defines value, while they ignore that they used free will of choice to believe it has value. So suggestion was enough to trick mankind to ignore self, and so here we are...unable to fathom how fiction operates within reality.
To uphold fiction (stay ignorant) requires belief (affixed assumptions); which cause a conflict of reason (truth versus false). Those two sides represent the fictitious opposites of all conflicts within reality; defined by the parasites offering the beliefs...an offer waiting for consent by free will of choice.
