Question is motive.
My amateur theory is it was nearly 20 years since we quote first landed on the moon. So they needed a catastrophic event to set back the "when are we going back to the moon" conversation at least a few decades.

Add media and trauma to this. They made sure to roll their screens into every classroom to mass traumatize (and hook) a generation of children to the screen. Now compare that to the 9/11 show half a century later...24/7 news coverage. Nonstop regurgitation of fiction to the addicts who ignore reality.

No evidence to back it up but seeing how these hoaxes seem to work it's to trick the public into believing something usually while stealing our money in the background. (Another theory I've heard is Nasa wastes trillions of taxpayer money with very little to show for it so they have to put on a show every once in awhile to keep the con going.)
Maybe it was insurance fraud? Claim to lose millions of dollars worth of equipment.

Wouldn't surprise me. So easy to make someone disappear back then before the internet. Change your name, move to another city, get a job at some college with a fake resume. There was no real way to find out without doing some real detective work.

It MIGHT have been a response to the film "Capricorn One" which is about a fake Mars Landing op. In the movie, the vehicle the astronauts were supposed to be in blew up on re-entry. NASA's way of saying: "Look, we wouldn't murder our fake astronauts if that happened. We're not monsters, after all!"

The last time this was posted a quick search showed the black guy and asian guy are the brothers of the astronauts, hence same last name and similar appearance.
Also, the older siblings of the Sandy Hook victims sang at the Super Bowl
And they just happened to look exactly like the Sandy Hook victims, just age progressed a few years

they are the same people. they took pics of these kids when they were a few years younger, and then allowed the kids to grow, and then fake-killed the younger version of the same kid.
siblings "can" look similar, but these were obviously the same person. same way you can tell all your cousins apart, even though they look the same.
