The toilet paper never really recovered fully, it's not fully restocked (there's still limites on amounts you can purchase at costco for instance) and prices have gone up and I hear repeated stories about a global paper shortage so I'd suggest you stock up on tp just in case, besides it's one thing that you will always use eventually and will never go bad. I have personally stocked my supplies of paper and shipping/packign supplies for my business as well as toilet paper very heavily to be on the safe side. Sooner or later i'll use it up and it's better to be on the safe side.

The world bank can't be so stupid as to think that such a message would do anything other than backfire anyway. So I say it's a fake out, they WANT you to hoard food and fuel, probably to cause more food and fuel shortages, but since those shortages will likely come, then you should still do it, just make sure you do it FIRST before most others. ;-P

Really not sure how they are gonna play it. They have put a lot of work into this Zelenskyy character so i do wonder if they plan to play him for while longer though.

Yep, scary thought!

Yeah he's got over a billion in off shore accounts now, they could 'kill' him and he could retire in the Bahamas easily. Hard to say though, the propaganda machine is investing a lot of attention into this current game, I suspect they intend to milk it for a few years at least, or as long as they can keep our attention on it.

They are also one of the poorest countries, I am betting EU is not planning to help them finance any of the things the EU wants to force on them...

" Try to keep up."

No need to be a dick about it.

It was not that much of a secret we had labs there, we have labs all over including China and the labs info was on the various govt websites for years. Yeah the dumb press tried to deny it but I don't think many others were exactly shocked. I also really really doubt Russia invaded for that reason, they are just using some conveniently provided opportunities to make the USA look bad.

He built 500 miles or he just PROMISED to build 500 miles but then didn't build them. I'll need a source, I think only a few miles got built..

Yep, but I've watched mainstream media waffle a lot about attacks in Kiev early on and shell blasts and the suddenly days later they were saying the Russians had not reached Kiev. Remember that tank that was supposedly a Russian tank running over a Ukrainian in a car in Kiev? That was early on and then later they said Russian tanks had not even reached Kiev, so probs that was a Ukrainian tank that ran over that car (and he probably just lost control or didn't see the car). This guy's video makes more sense from everything I've seen. Most media does not want to go into an actual war zone, those kinds of reporters mostly belonged to a different era of news. They'd rather stage something in a quiet street corner and take video of that and tell themselves it's OK because in their mind, the real thing is happening in the next town over anyway. Zelenskyy is happy to let this happen as it helps his cause. We've already seen them do plenty of this same thing with covid, one as to assume it's still happening with other subjects. It's easier to fake news than to find it for real and also a lot safer for them.

That still leaves the question open as to what is happening in the rest of the country though. So far I have not seen much of the actual fighting and with everyone having cell phones now, it should be possible to easily get footage, but could be both sides don't want to give away tactics either. Or some or all of it could be bs, IDK.

I have been looking at Elon Musk as the antichrist if there is one, remember the Antichrist is to be charming and loved by many. Putin is someone that you may respect as smart and powerful but not many could say they love him, he 's basically surly and crabby looking. And I suspect the antichrist will be in charge of transhumanism and that's totally Musk's area.

The prob here is both sides are accusing each other of doing the same things and both sides can't be trusted to tell the truth.

Russia offered to leave Ukraine alone in exchange for DOnbas and Crimea and a promise of neutrality from Ukraine, that might have been what Russia wanted all along, not a total occupation, just Donbas and Crimea which have mostly people that wanted to leave Ukraine anyway.

Russia may also be trying to be careful about destroying civilian stuff. There has been a huge effort to paint it otherwise but if you consider there is a narrative that Ukraine has armed all its civilians to attack and then is complaining if Russia fights civilians and considering that stray bombs will hit buildings in any war, there has not been a lot of legit looking damage to civilian areas. In fact much of the early propaganda about bombs hitting Kiev seems to have been all fake.

We are making an assumption that Putin really wanted to 'take' all of Ukraine. If the country does not want you, occupation is expensive and possibly not worth it, USSR found that out and maybe Putin learned that lesson. Maybe he just wanted Donbas and Crimea and to bitch slap all the Ukrainian militia on the border with an attempt to end the 8 years of shelling that have been going on at the border.

There is a diff between old equipment and equipment that does not work. If these tanks had good maintenance, they may work just fine for the job and also may be easier to operate. I could see that maybe Putin felt no need to spend money on new tanks if the old ones worked, he'd just save his money for other projects.

Do we even know that is a Russian tank? Supposedly Ukraine has the exact same tanks as Russia so Russia was painting a 'z' on theirs to tell them apart. So ukraine could also paint the Z and claim it's Russian. Anyway, making fun of Russian tanks is amusing considering Ukraine has the same tanks, and the real question is do the tanks work or not? If I could fix up old tanks and they worked fine, I'd do that and save my money for other projects. It's more intelligent than America's way of scrapping projects and starting new ones often which is basically a gift to Lockheed, etc. Tanks just need to drive and shoot, they don't need to be brand new.

That's applies to huge chunks of Europe though, I don't think that's the real reason.

loonygecko 5 points ago +5 / -0

I mean there is probs still fighting someplace, there's been fighting along the Donbas border for 8 years so you'd probably find it if you went there now too. But something is off about the rest of this war. I am wondering Russia has been mostly just trying to get DOnbas this whole time, hard to say for sure though.
