There’s a big difference between “Christianity” as you see it today, the Vatican and Catholic Church, and the true faith taught by the Messiah, Yeshua.
If you conflate man made, corrupted religion with the pure faith that is taught in the scriptures then you are sitting at the table without a full deck of cards. You’re using a half truth for the sake of your argument.
Christianity has been used as an opiate for the masses, but this doesn’t mean that the true faith itself is a lie. Many pastors and preachers and church goers alike are wolves in sheep’s clothing. The devil has little work to do outside the house of the faithful, so he masquerades as a messenger of Truth and deceives the whole world.
I know you don’t care, but Yeshua the King is real. He didn’t come to start this religion you see today. He came to save us from ourselves and the work of the evil one. Don’t be so hard hearted against him, otherwise when the deceiver comes whispering sweet nothings into your ear you might find yourself seduced.
Someone who is writing posts/sharing articles defending Christmas as a non-pagan holiday as a supposed Christian, yet falling for the internet culture of insulting and degrading another person would be ironic if it wasn’t so sad. Ironic because you’re taking time to defend a religiously touted man made tradition, in defence of a Messiah who rejected religiously touted man made traditions, recorded in a book set against the Babylonian and other pagan gods, including the sun god, ashtaroth, Ba’al and others such as Tammuz and the myths that follow them and link them together, while insulting and degrading others (see “chink” for example) in open hostility as an example of the exact type of false religion-dead works-unchanged heart-God made in my own image lifestyle this Messiah rejected and taught against. Anyways, let’s move on from your poor behaviour and get to the heart of the matter.
This article is nothing more then proof that we can use any slice of historical/scientific records to argue in our favour, regardless of what the truth is. See pro-vaccine propaganda as an example.
It’s impossible to argue that Christmas isn’t pagan in its origins. The tree is pagan, thee giving of gifts, the ornaments on the tree, the Yule log, the winter solstice, the date chosen, the significance of this date and season for occultists/pagans/satanists aline, and the clear tie in to ancient idol worship (Nimrod, Tammuz, Ba’al, Odin, Etc) and the idols of the son and the virgin.
There is no debate that Christmas is rooted in and originates from pagan idolatry. Just as there is no evidence for Messiah being born on Dec 25. Just as he did not die in line with Good Friday and Easter.
Death-Passover Resurrection- First fruits Ascension/provision of the spirit- Shavuot (Pentecost)
Birth- most likely sept 11, feast of trumpets Coming judgment- day of atonement Millennial reign- feast of tabernacles
If you can spend an hour studying the truth behind the aligning of Messianic belief with Babylonian/pagan sun worship, including changing the sabbath to “Sunday”, as instituted around the time of Constantine and the council of Laodicae, study the scriptures in truth wherever the pagan nations and their acts are committed, and study the connection between these idols and the celebrations of the modern Christian world (not to mention the view of faithful believers against these traditions over the years). Study all this, unbiased and clear headed, not to prove some guy online wrong but to seek for truth, then come to the conclusion “nah, it’s all good, Christmas is cool”, then off you go.
The only argument that can be made isn’t whether or not Christmas is pagan, but whether God has ordained and accepted the creation or redemption of idolatry in the context of true worship. The answer- read your bible.
“You shall not think to worship me as the nations worship their gods” for one, so the book of Deuteronomy is a starting point. Then the prophets. Then Paul’s warning to the Colossians/Galatians about observing their former days of worship as pagan Greco-Roman pantheistic gentiles.
Please look up the Babylonian history of Tammuz, Nimrod and Ishtar. These are the gods and godesses that the pagans worshipped during the spring and winter festivals that are known today as Christmas and Easter. This includes the virgin birth of the sun god one dec 25. You can search up “rob skiba” and watch any of his videos on babylon, or the Christmas question, or any of the other dozens of documentaries or hundreds or articles that document this.
I’m a born again, baptized, die for the Messiah believer and I’m here to tell you that Christmas is a pagan holiday coopted by the Roman Catholic Church to make Christianity palatable to pagans. It’s straight up demonic and frowned upon by God himself. Don’t take my word for it though. Look- Christmas is in scripture bro:
10 Hear what the Lord says to you, people of Israel. 2 This is what the Lord says:
“Do not learn the ways of the nations(B) or be terrified by signs(C) in the heavens, though the nations are terrified by them. 3 For the practices of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman(D) shapes it with his chisel.(E) 4 They adorn it with silver(F) and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter.(G) 5 Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field, their idols cannot speak;(H) they must be carried because they cannot walk.(I) Do not fear them; they can do no harm(J) nor can they do any good.”(K)
Any holiday where a tree is cut down, brought in the house and decorated on your radar? He says DONT DO IT. Not redeem it. Not justify it because it’s your cute little tradition that pastor says is ok, just don’t do it.
We can dissect any bible verse you want to the contrary. Drop the satanic man made traditions and celebrate his ways and days instead! WWJD? Not “redeem” a pagan sun god festival.
Love and peace brother.
A few things that I want to point out and correct in this theory.
"Adonai" is the Hebrew word for Master, not the name of the Creator, or the God of the bible if you like. Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey, 4 Hebrew consonants that are widely debated in how that name would be pronounced, are translated to English as "the LORD". Lord, or Master, is a title and not a name. Most translations stay away from any attempt to translate the name of the Creator, but I can show you a few places that have. It is a difficult name to translate because there are no vowels in it so there are many different theories. Similar to how the name of "Jesus" is an english translation of a greek translation of a hebrew name (Likely Yehoshua, short form is Yeshua, but even that is debated in some circles).
The Sabbath day was given as an act of creation prior to any worship of heavenly bodies. Following the account in the bible, the Sabbath is instituted immediately after the creation of man. In Hebrew tradition, the days of the week are simply called "Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Sabbath", they are not acknowledged by the common names. Your point that each day of the week represents a planet is not an indication that the Creator intended for it to be understood that way. It is a man-made device based off of idol worship, the exact kind that the Creator God spoke against
"And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven." Deut 4:19
In this verse the "Lord" is warning against worshiping the heavenly bodies. That hardly makes sense if he is the "Saturn god" as this post theorizes.
The 10 commandments were not given to the Jews, they were given to Israelites. Prior to the division of the nation of Israel there were no people group called "Jews". Once Israel as a nation was divided as a result of the reign of King Solomon, there were two "Houses". One was called the House of Israel, the other was called the House of Judah. Those in the House of Judah were called Judeans or Jews for short. The people who received the 10 commandments could be considered ancestors of those who would eventually be called Jews, but not Jews themselves. The 10 commandments were given to the Hebrews that left Egypt and to many "strangers and foreigners" (people from other nations, not just descendants from Abraham-Isaac-Jacob) who left Egypt at the time of the Exodus with the Hebrews.
God did not tell Israel to worship on Saturn-day, he told them to worship on the Sabbath day, the seventh day of the week. The pagan "overlords" that have directed society for thousands of years named the days of the week and the months after their gods in direct defiance to the Most High God who created all things.
There is much more historically and biblically that we can look at to show that this theory is incorrect. A good place to start, OP, could be the history of the Council of Laodecia and the amalgamation of paganism into the Messianic belief at the time of Constantine and the formation of the Roman Catholic Church.
My view, that I have constructed on the shoulders of historians and scholars and solid biblical teaching, is that the paganism we see in our society today, most notably in the catholic church, and the timing/history of mainstream christian holidays like Christmas and Easter are distortions of the truth that the Most High God intended. This normalization of paganism in the world and the church is a ground-breaking study that I think is really worth digging into. How modern "Judaism" ties into that is another area worth studying.
Another tidbit, God warns his people not to worship the sun, the moon and the stars and we see the Star of David, the Moon in the symbol of Islam and the Sun at the centre of Catholicism. The catholic church and the pope are also responsible for changing the 10 commandments including the day of worship from the 7th day to "sun"day and allowing idols to built, notably their sun pillars.
