There is no "outer space" as you and I have formally understood it, the Earth is flat and motionless, just as we perceive it. Only the extra-dimensional "heavens" exist above, and are beyond our human perception.
OP is not wrong about the coming destruction of life as we know it. The bible speaks very clearly about this in Revelation 9
