Agreed. I know my takes can be unpopular here. It isn't that I don't believe in conspiracies, it's just that I tend to accept the simplest explanation.
It is possible we are on the verge of "jobs apocalypse" or even "break containment and kill all humans." It is possible that these AI barons really are just concerned about the welfare of humanity. But a much simpler explanation is just ordinary grifting.
I guess we'll know in a few more years. In 2022, Sam Altman said we were probably within 1000 days to AGI or something like that. The three years have passed. The results are... mixed. AI has certainly advanced, but nowhere near what was predicted 3 years ago. It'll be 2030 before you all know it (there are conspiracy theories about the time acceleration too, as has been posted here, but I tend to think we are all just getting older!).
The natural order doesn't grift/graft (to dig)...the natural order (inception towards death) withdraws (life).
AI suggests information to tempt consenting users to dig into it while burying self under it...that's how a grift (consenting to suggested information) distracts from the ordained (perceivable inspiration).
Tendency implies "turning the mind"...that's the conspiracy by few tricking many into an acceptance versus denial conflict. Versus/verto - "to turn"...confined within a circle one tends to keep turning mentally (logic) and physically (reason).
Nature implies delineation (inception towards death) of native (life)...only within which any artificial circle can be shaped.

Permitting another to mediate (suggestion) shapes medium (perception) within extreme (perceivable) into an unforeseen aka a sudden unexpected happening.
In reality...only the extreme forwards (inception towards death) the sight of each medium (life). Nothing unforeseen or sudden about that. Nature implies a plan/plane of action for each reacting native within...that's how mediation works.
Aka a suggested outcome (artificial) distracting ones perception with fear from perceivable origin (natural).
