Whew.. that was a tough read. Yes, that is different than the story I heard. I heard it on a podcast called Mysterious Universe. They were discussing Dead Sea Scroll translations.
Aren’t the stories in the Dead Sea scrolls the ‘original’ tales; the oldest recorded telling of what ‘happened’. The versions taught today have been through 2000 years of factions publicizing their iterations.
This strife between God and Moses began when the desert jews needed water. God told Moses to strike a rock with a staff and water would come from the rock. So he did that and it worked, water came out. Later Moses needed guidance for dealing with the giants. God told Moses to speak words to a different rock. But Moses, maybe he had a brain fart, instead of speaking the words, he struck the rock because it had worked before, which was not what he was supposed to do. God got mad and banished Moses from entering the promised land. After all Moses had risked, he was written off. When the jews/God defeated the giants, after the snake drama; the jews flooded into the promised land. Poor Moses had to remain alone in the desert. Not much of a friend that old world god. From the Dead Sea scrolls.
It wasn't a "brain fart", it was frustration with the tribe grumbling against the LORD and he struck the rock in anger. Afterwords, the LORD told him what he'd done wrong and forbade him the earthly promised land. Also, it was Joshua that lead them into the land promised to the ancestors of Abraham, dryshod, over the Jordan River. But not until Moses had apparently died on the mountain. There's a nice little key if you read carefully ... "His grave was never found."
He was still taken into the true Promised Land at the end of his life, though. Many denominations believe bodily as was Elijah, Jesus, and Mary. Evidenced by the Transfiguration and the appearance of both Moses and Elijah, each conversing with Jesus.
Ok. You seem to know a lot of the stories. Not trying to be combative, I’m curious about this next point. I’ve heard all the miracles and stories leading up to Jesus being crucified and dying, then rising three days later. Then the stories stopped. What happened next? It was like the tale just ended while he was still alive.
There is a sect of Christians in Japan that believe Jesus traveled to Japan and lived out the rest of his days. But it’s considered a conspiracy tale. Whole books have been written about it. What did he do after he came out of the cave?

Always ... ALWAYS do your own research. And ... do yourself a favour. Read the Bible.
