Smartphones in particular and the world wide web collectively are designed as public square for private espionage. Using a phone makes one political, and texts as mentioned represent edicts aka proclamations published towards the public.

Even more devious...while the phone represents politics in disguise; ones consent to use it represents religion in disguise.
