It does seem like good cop bad cop.
But even with a fake split, they are rhetorically setting up Israel to be blamed for the oil shock as things progress.
Perhaps only so they can then say "Oy vey, look at how antisemitic everyone is! We need to abolish the Constitution so we can ban antisemitic speech once and for all! Oy gevalt!"
But what if we WANT a fracture?

Would be funny if the fake fracture makes the real one worse.
Of course we want a fracture. But I am not convinced this supposed fracture is real. They have to know that everyone on the planet can see that the US is just run by Israel, so they need to muddy the waters a bit.
