Layer/lay - "cause to rest" tempts one to ignore that cause generates effect without rest. Few suggest affectation to distract many from cause, which lures effect to rest.
Effect implies being within cause; affect implies effect ignoring cause for one another...the latter establishes the layers under which ones resting mind slumbers. Few shape layers to tuck many into arrested development.
