What I should have said is, I don't know all the laws, but I don't think an accompanied child entering illegally is a crime upon the child, and even if it were then the existence of a green card implies that crime has already been adjudicated, making the status no longer "illegal" (one who entered illegally and is still present illegally). But then I'm just particular about people freely using words about legality. So I understand what you were saying but it probably would fail journalistic accuracy.
