There was numerous airforce clashes (real, with shooting and may be even with shot down planes) between Turkey and Greece, both NATO countries. Nothing happened, it was just sweeped under the rug, and nobody in Europe allowed to talk about that at the time.
Since NATO is a purely commercial organsation built to sell US weapons and license US military standards to Europe, I highly doubt US will ever abandon NATO in any way. Without NATO nobody need overpriced and inferior US MIC production.
On the opposite, it is probable that now US will force other NATO members to significantly rise weapons and license purchases.
