This one was my attempt to be sympathetic, you might want to read it a second time. Most flat earthers here do not think Dubay is the face of flat earthers, he smells manufactured. I like to hear from flat earthers because they might uncover something useful like hollow earth or Antarctica, so I wasn't intending to scare you off.

Pretending there is a fe community is part of the reason I don't bother. You've already got your ideas. I read. You are "not a flat earther" and neither am I. Even dubay would say he is not a flat earther if he didn't need labels.

He would admit that we don't know, all we can do is test the globe theory and find that it doesn't hold up. We can determine without any doubt that it's not a globe. But we can't know where we are, what's past the ice, what space. Really is, what's under us. It's all speculation. All we can do it determine that its not a globe.

And I did the math, 8 inches per mile squared is accurate enough for the first 200 miles that you can make common sense conclusions. If you want to rely on trig, go ahead, but your eyes can't see far enough, even with binoculars for it to matter.

What you can tell is that 8 inches per mile squared is decent algorithmics fot for what a 25000 mile circumstance sphere would curve at. And you only need several miles range of vision to figure this out. And refraction isn't any kind of argument, for refraction to be a factor, light particles would need to perfectly project halohrams of real life (mountains, boats, building....etc) after bouncing off particles in the air. It's dumb and doesn't play a factor into any argument about how obvious it is that earth doesn't curve....its just a distraction to throw people off.

But Im past arguments. I don't waste time with the people who aren't smart enough to figure this out on their own.

I know the Eric dubay isn't the face of anything, and that no one it, and that there is FE community because any community that gains attention os dismantled by CIA or whatever internet fuckery. Whitsitgetsit was great, but they probably got to him too. Threatening him, whatever. It's too easy to keep people in the dark.

Hollow earth is another stupid psy op. Anything that involves a globe or space is easy to prove that it has to be wrong. We cannot be moving. It cannot be a globe. The sun cannot be giant star. The moon cannot be a huge rock orbiting. These are just things humans with decent IQ can test for themselves. You are wierd. You are one of those conspiracy guys who believes the shot they read instead of just relying on your own observations and logic. That's probably why you believe in hallow earth or whatever, why you think there is a FE community

Technically, there is a flat earth community, I founded it in Feb 2022 and it's called c/FlatEarth and has had 21 contributors since then. The Scored platform is run by anons who protect everyone's privacy and IMHO it's the best place to have public anon communication that's very low on the radar and not filtered. As the founding mod, I can tell you that you can post anything there that's legal and moral, and if you want me to investigate who's still around that thinks similarly I'll check on it. I can also tell you that SwampRangers.com is not going away (we should get a warrant canary I suppose) and Jesus who backs me is not going away, which is the best cred I can give.

Since I'm "skeptical of everything", and I do rely on observation and logic, I don't insist on the oblate spheroid being the best explanation, and I'm sensitive to the fact that the governments keep adjusting their globe models and hiding details about space and Antarctica. Now, to get along IRL including when I travel "around" the world, I use maps and they've pretty well lined up with my actual experience, but when I looked at my travels I realized they weren't mathematically sufficient to demonstrate any geoidal model due to curving paths and lack of control points. So I'm open-minded about everything except one thing, the God in Christ who holds me (I'm not free to leave him but I'm free to explore everything else). When I put my ideas out, it's because they're hypotheses subject to improvement. I haven't come to the place where I can say "not a globe without any doubt".

If I have put out a couple guesses of direction that you find useless (like hollow earth), I apologize. But it's not clear to me what your goal is. If you're at "it's not a globe but I don't need to convince anyone else", that's kind of like my saying my Mitty fantasy world is real but I don't need to convince anyone else. The way I actually live is to verify my views of reality by several paths (including reaction of others) and to direct my fantasies to become realities by my actions. So when I tell people Jesus was born in 4 BC on October 6 Julian, at 3 a.m., but I could be wrong, part of that is putting the date and time out there for argument's sake because I have evidence aligning it with reality, and part of it is being open-minded enough to hear alternatives and to test if there are better alignments. So for practical purposes this account larps as not believing in flat earth and my alt account larps as believing in flat earth (and God knows what else), and I keep all my bases covered.

But we can't know where we are, what's past the ice, what space.

Philosophically and theologically I concluded that not everything can be known by mortals, but anything can be known by mortals. I believe if you set your mind to it you can have any question answered by God, over time. Perhaps you don't care if you know because your belief is good enough and you function fine with globalists all around.

I'm not sure what you're saying about refraction, because when I look at the surface of hot roads I see shimmering accurate holograms of the sky and other structures, and I thought that was heat refraction, so it seems to be a factor in dealing with the horizon problem too.

So I apologize for starting off on the wrong foot with my levity, and you are welcome to post freely at c/FlatEarth. You can get a little traction cross-posting to c/Conspiracies but they're not too interested in FE because it's not got much new to it lately.
