Technically, there is a flat earth community, I founded it in Feb 2022 and it's called c/FlatEarth and has had 21 contributors since then. The Scored platform is run by anons who protect everyone's privacy and IMHO it's the best place to have public anon communication that's very low on the radar and not filtered. As the founding mod, I can tell you that you can post anything there that's legal and moral, and if you want me to investigate who's still around that thinks similarly I'll check on it. I can also tell you that SwampRangers.com is not going away (we should get a warrant canary I suppose) and Jesus who backs me is not going away, which is the best cred I can give.
Since I'm "skeptical of everything", and I do rely on observation and logic, I don't insist on the oblate spheroid being the best explanation, and I'm sensitive to the fact that the governments keep adjusting their globe models and hiding details about space and Antarctica. Now, to get along IRL including when I travel "around" the world, I use maps and they've pretty well lined up with my actual experience, but when I looked at my travels I realized they weren't mathematically sufficient to demonstrate any geoidal model due to curving paths and lack of control points. So I'm open-minded about everything except one thing, the God in Christ who holds me (I'm not free to leave him but I'm free to explore everything else). When I put my ideas out, it's because they're hypotheses subject to improvement. I haven't come to the place where I can say "not a globe without any doubt".
If I have put out a couple guesses of direction that you find useless (like hollow earth), I apologize. But it's not clear to me what your goal is. If you're at "it's not a globe but I don't need to convince anyone else", that's kind of like my saying my Mitty fantasy world is real but I don't need to convince anyone else. The way I actually live is to verify my views of reality by several paths (including reaction of others) and to direct my fantasies to become realities by my actions. So when I tell people Jesus was born in 4 BC on October 6 Julian, at 3 a.m., but I could be wrong, part of that is putting the date and time out there for argument's sake because I have evidence aligning it with reality, and part of it is being open-minded enough to hear alternatives and to test if there are better alignments. So for practical purposes this account larps as not believing in flat earth and my alt account larps as believing in flat earth (and God knows what else), and I keep all my bases covered.
But we can't know where we are, what's past the ice, what space.
Philosophically and theologically I concluded that not everything can be known by mortals, but anything can be known by mortals. I believe if you set your mind to it you can have any question answered by God, over time. Perhaps you don't care if you know because your belief is good enough and you function fine with globalists all around.
I'm not sure what you're saying about refraction, because when I look at the surface of hot roads I see shimmering accurate holograms of the sky and other structures, and I thought that was heat refraction, so it seems to be a factor in dealing with the horizon problem too.
So I apologize for starting off on the wrong foot with my levity, and you are welcome to post freely at c/FlatEarth. You can get a little traction cross-posting to c/Conspiracies but they're not too interested in FE because it's not got much new to it lately.
