John 18:33-36: "Therefore Pilate entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, 'Are You the King of the Jews?' Jesus answered, 'Are you saying this from yourself, or did others tell you about Me?' Pilate answered, 'Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what did You do?' Jesus answered, 'My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be delivered over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not from here.'"
Would you have fought against the Jews to defend Jesus? Imagine you had been there that day. You see the Jews humiliating and torturing Jesus. What would you do? Would you have fought against the Jews?
Jesus rebuked Peter when he drew his sword and cut off an ear.
Christianity makes no sense if Jesus was meant to survive.
I can't believe we're still doing variations of the "Jews killed Jesus" retardation in 2025.
The apostles obeyed Jesus and preached the gospel to all that would hear it. Some were martyred for this cause.
Are you trying to make the case they should have disobeyed Jesus?
I have a question - if the Jews are meant to be guilty of killing Jesus, implying this wasn't a planned sacrifice...how does Christianity make any sense at all?
It clearly doesn't. If he didn't die for our sins, then there's no contribution.
Yes, the Lord laid down His life willingly.
Be quiet JosephGoebbels.
I am not that subhuman shiteater.
Sure thing boss.
I'd like to think so; who wouldn't? But I don't know if it was even possible. For Jesus to sacrifice Himself to atone for mankind's original sin, he had to suffer that absolute worst fate, which required being abandoned by the people who loved Him most.
I think what happened had to happen at a meta level (ie my Kingdom is not of this world) and, luckily for us, Jews have no power over the Kingdom of Heaven.
Honestly, I'd have probably believed he was running a pedo trafficking ring under the guise of a mystery cult, and shouted, "Barrabas," like the rest of the crowd. With no internet, I'd be long dead before it could start coming to light that he was betrayed by Judas, and that it was all a setup by the Pharisees.
Also, Jesus was a Jew, and did infer that he was an otherworldly king. That last bit was heretical, against the Roman Emperor, and their whole religious mythos. Pilot was stuck in a bad place, but had to deal with it before it grew into a larger problem. He couldn't save Jesus, though he seemed to want to find such a way. Defending this madman would just have gotten you killed, too.
