An engaging mind stands in conflict with another (correct vs incorrect), a disengaged mind resists the temptation to engage in conflict with another, thereby remaining free.

As for rule/reg - "to move in a straight line"...that implies nature disengaging each mind within from one another, hence allowing each to think "straight".
