The Bible doesn’t say what shape the earth/firmament is in.

The bible says that the light was created on the first day and separated from the dark. Then on the 4th day, the sun and moon and stars.

Literal explanation fails.

The true explanation involves, as always, esoteric meaning, showing the hierarchy of principles behind material objects. Ideation precedes all material things.

Hence Light as Logos/Son comes before its creation of forms.

literal explanation fails

How? Besides what the Bible says, you don't know about what creation was like way back then. So no, literal truth does not "fail".

Where is your "ideation" belief promoted in the Bible?

Well, we use the earth and sun and moon to determine day from night.......so what does 'the fourth day' mean if there was no sun yet? And what was 'The Light' if not the sun?

A: Ideation

I don't 'believe' in ideation or bring it into existence. In fact the opposite is true.

God could easily have made a temporary light-emitting object. Just because you don't know how a new type of vehicle works doesn't make its parts a metaphor.

Why would he have to create a temp light-emitting object? Why not make the sun on the first day? Why does he need light anyway? To see? See what? These questions are moot when the creation story is seen as the analogy it is. If not, those questions can't be answered with understanding or authority. Authority and understanding are one and the same. I gave a short answer to what the 'Light' was/is. You reject it out of hand without understanding the point. So let's just move on.
