Well when im searching for stuff in the now, I already face the problem that google is very highly curated and seems to be mostly narrated by AI guiding you where it wants you to go.
Duckduckgo used to be decent, but its just as bad as google now.
Yandex still shows me alot of the results im looking for, I assume because its still actually controlled by russia who prolly doesnt have such a vested interest in hiding the truth.

Again it all depends on what you look for. Ayh imagine you are smart enough to already know what exists online so if you are looking for specific news, then its best to search actual sites. If you are looking for any thing else non (((compromised))) then doesn't matter.
Ayh think by this time we over conflate just what we even need search engines for when most every one gets their information from places they frequent like here or other forums etc.
Brave search is fucking broken.
All my results are years old, even when addind 2024 in the query i get pre 2020 results.
The browser is pretty decent, bit the search engine is horrible.
So what do you suggest using? All search engines are compromised in some form or fashion. I use brave and while I agree they're transhumanism and crypto heavy with their ads on the page what else do we honestly have to use? Probably physical books at this point. No where is safe.

How would you know one is better than another if entire swaths of data is removed or hidden?

If it can't be used offline, then it shouldn't be built into anything. All it should offer is a bookmark button for it's page.
