Another local resident posted to a Facebook group that their neighbor had a cat go missing - only to see it "hanging from a branch, like you'd do a deer for butchering, & they [the Haitians] were carving it up to eat."
Your cat is not the neighborhood's cat. You're at fault for its death. Next time, be a better pet owner instead of a nuisance to society.
I can tell you're a cat owner by the fact that you can't discern whether someone is being sincere when they tell you to keep your cats inside your house, like a good pet owner, instead of being an asshole to your neighbors. Especially when it comes to the fact that the cat in question would've been alive if they had just done what I said. I guess being an asshole supersedes your cat's well-being.
