Lazyness and idiotic hope that some enterpreneur will gift them something for free with bells and whistles without any need to exert their brains.

There are more than enough solutions that fundamentally invulnerable to the attacks of that type, since there are no single point of failure in form of datacenters or owners, but no, "all my buddies use whatsapp/viber/telegram/whatever", "it does not have this whistle and that bell", "I don't want to study anything to get a reliable communication channel" and so on.
