Toxoplasma gondii is a leading cause of severe foodborne illness in the United States. Population-based studies have found T. gondii infection to be more prevalent in racial/ethnic minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. Soil contaminated with cat feces, undercooked meat, and congenital transmission are the principal sources of infection. Toxoplasmosis-associated illnesses include congenital neurologic and ocular disease; acquired illness in immunocompetent persons, most notably ocular disease; and encephalitis or disseminated disease in immunosuppressed persons. The association of T. gondii infection with risk for mental illness is intriguing and requires further research."
"Toxoplasmosis is becoming a global health hazard as it infects 30–50% of the world human population. Clinically, the life-long presence of the parasite in tissues of a majority of infected individuals is usually considered asymptomatic. However, a number of studies show that this ‘asymptomatic infection’ may also lead to development of other human pathologies"
And no I am not saying children should smoke or anyone, feel free to read more comments above saying so. There are many ways to get rid of parasites. Both these links are worth checking out for more info. There's actually a ton of information online.
I added quotes. My links aren't just about third world countries. UK also has a high rate which reaches 50% with age.
"The overall rate of Toxoplasma infection in England and Wales is between 23-33%, with evidence of regional variation. (Source: Epidemiology of toxoplasmosis in the U.K.)
The seroprevalence of Toxoplasma infection in England and Wales is around 50% at the age of 60 years, with an annual increase of 0.5-1.0%. (Source: Epidemiology of toxoplasmosis in the U.K.)
Around 300-450 cases of acute toxoplasmosis are reported each year in England and Wales, although seroprevalence studies suggest that toxoplasmosis is significantly underreported. (Source: Risk factors for acute toxoplasmosis in England and Wales)"
It's also as mentioned above underreported. Most people don't get tested for parasites. No I don't think smoking is good however if people aren't finding other sources to get rid of parasites they can cause even worse harm than smoking. And yes, nicotine kills parasites so if you were a smoker it would kill parasite.
People all over the world are (and this is just one example of a parasite): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4015566/

This is about California, not some 3rd world countries.
Is smoking cigarettes harmful or not?
Do you believe that smoking cigarettes kills parasites?
