I'd consider it double bladed only if the analogy includes that you can only see the benefit side of the sword at first glance the consequence side of the sword is 4th dimensional, that is it can only be seen in hindsight.
No one is capable of predicting the full implications of technology like the internet but it was mostly a tool for globalization like the global free market before it. Generally, normies are preprogrammed to conceive of all new technology as good because it's convenient, amusing or just because "muh technological/ scientific progress". It's a religion. Of course the reality is we shouldn't idolize technology as an end in itself but should only use it as a tool for solving certain problems and be careful if it does more harm than good. But that gets into ethics and today's societies don't have a coherent view on that and people's opinions are being manipulated through propaganda.
Capitalism ≠ Ethics
Capitalism is an economic system. Maybe it implies some ethics but it still needs a more pronounced ideology to supplement it as a worldview. Like socialism (China) or liberal democracy (the West). Both of those are in reality a technocratic rule by a financial and corporate elite but I'm talking about how the government presents itself to the public.
Capitalism and modern technology are fruit of the same consumerist society tree we call the "first world" Capitalism takes humanity and ethical considerations out of the equation. The bottom line is profit. Fuck the world, let's make money! To The detriment of future generations and the earth itself.
