DARPA is, of course, piggybacking off existing social norms that developed bottom up, not top down, long before DARPA was a twinkle in the eye of the Military Industrial Complex. They didn't develop anything, but put their names on some powerpoints summarizing what already existed and called it an innovation they could claim credit for, if indeed that's what this is.
Moreover, human nature remains the same in all times and places. Outsiders build up social capital by meaningful contributions, which includes new fags commenting on this astroturf site.
Piggybacking eh? MySpace started August 2003 coinciding with LifeLog, modern social media certainly isn't based on the usenet groups from when I was a kid. These ideas have been weaponized for a long time targeting individuals like yourself who believe whatever is being said is dependent on whose saying it instead of the merit of the contribution. Social media might as well be called sheeple net as the people who use it to "socialize" are likely devoid of the ability to converse in person.
You still don't understand, so I'll say it one more time, slightly differently so maybe it will penetrate your bubble, and leave the final word to you.
Social norms for behavior on the internet developed long before the internet, and are only slightly modified for it, and further, are based on our human nature, which you can't change. In short, people always, always going to be wary of "the new guy".
The people you are describing are sheep like yourself who have absolutely no idea what original thought is. Don't be offended, I don't care if ants get mad at me. It is painfully obvious I know more about this tool we are both using, you are suggesting sociological norms apply in the internet age and that is not the case. I assume you are a social media butterfly but how many of these "people" you speak to have you met in person? My guess is very few but you feel informed enough to propose the internet is a social tool as opposed to a surveillance tool and that is a foolish proposition.
