Well, I know this game under name of "Mafia" and hardly it was invented by Russian sociology student since I played it in school before 1986 when it was described by Dmitry Davidov who often mistakingly accounted as inventor today. He just get to know about it, found it interesting and wrote his paper.
And "mafia" (or "werewolves" as in video) are not always win. They have better chance of win only if their strategy is smart. It's not hard to defeat "mafia", really, if they are not paying much attention to their behaviour. F.e. if one "member of mafia" always stand for some person who revealed to be "member of mafia", or even never proposed to "kil"l him as "mafioso" before "citizens", then this member will be declared "mafia" in the first place next round. Well, more than enough real world examples of such "mafia" fuckups among elites.
You need to have a good memory, be attentive, use logic and do not believe anybody words to win as a "citizen".
This game is not a proof that "mafia" always win. It is a proof that "citizen" have to be smart, attentive and have critical thinking to "survive", even if "mafia" have an advantage of hiding information and making secret decisions.
Good game, I like it. Even now I gladly play it with friends on occasions, when there is many people and nothing to do.
The kids at the weekly gaming meet up used to play it in the parking lot. I always assumed they got into among us pretty hard when that trend popped up. This has been reposted here a few times already.
we used to play this game in summer camp all the time, though we knew it as Mafia. In our version, there is an open discussion amongst the villagers as to who to kill before the vote is held. this makes it a game of poker faces and deception, and in this version the the win rate was about 50-50.
a) uniformed vs informed...while ignoring inspired.
b) The trick...I suggest you are villager or werewolf to trick you to consent to be villager or werewolf. That implies informed consent aka consenting to suggested information, while ignoring perceivable inspiration.
c) Life and death defined by information and consent, while ignoring in-spir-ation aka being within (in) breathable (spir) action (tion).
d) Everyone playing looses reality (perceivable) to fiction (suggested); while only the chosen one suggesting wins everyone's consent and permission to shape fiction within reality.
e) GAME; noun - "amusement" + AMUSE; verb "to divert the attention, beguile, delude; fool, tease, hoax, entrap; make fun of; cause to muse" + MENT; noun - "mind; memory".
tl; dr: HUNTING (to suggest) GAME (to consent). PRAY implies "ask; invite; request from another", which implies ones consent to be PREY to another.
TIRE, verb (Latin tero) - "to exhaust the power of attending"
EXHAUST', verb (Latin exhaurio, ex and haurio) - "to draw"
Ones power (resistance) of attending (velocity) allows one to draw from generation (inception towards death) as to re-generate self (life)...it's ignoring that which permits others to draw ones resistance.
That werewolf game permits those suggesting it to draw from those playing it, who're investing their minds into it. This investing of mind into suggested implies an "invest-ment" for the chosen one suggesting it...aka many losing trust, while few making bank.
