This causes them to have bad publicity and perhaps get abusive messages from patriots who are pissed off at what an eloquent White boy is suffering at the hands of his abusive school. All of this costs the kid nothing.
You're not wrong but then again it costs the board little to nothing too. Proving damages is hard when the courts are politicized. Look at latest trump case for instance.

Most English speaking countries including Canada have a system of costs where if you sue and the lawsuit is dismissed you must pay the other sides legal fees. In Canada the actual destination for a complaint against a school would be the Human Rights Tribunal not your local district court. They will only accept complaints against a school for discrimination if you have experienced disciplinary proceedings at school which have caused your parents to incur financial harm, which were imposed against you based on a protected characteristic, or in matters of expulsion or prolonged suspension. Canadian courts and tribunals have the right to reject a complaint on the filing stage without considering the merits of the case if it is deemed frivolous lol.
So yeah this kid can sue but with his accent being Canadian he’s in a country where he stands no chance of success. Canada isn’t America where you can sue your school for giving you a detention 20 years after it happened.
Best option is to publicly expose the board and its members so they get hate mail from right wing groups. If it is true that many students hide their real view of the world from the teachers, it shows at least three very important things:
they account that woke teachers as enemies.
the brainwashing does not work as wide as many could conclude from news
students have their own thoughts.
This situation could be very dangerous for woke crowd. Since students hide information from them they greatly overestimate their success and greatly underestimate opposition. They live in their own illusion. Also they grow a generation, part of which, and larger than they assume will always hate them, their ideology and when grow up will become a big problem for woke crowd.
And we also could greatly underestimate our youth. Accounting them as dumb phone-masturbators with washed brains we just throwing out great power that could join us.

That is why authorities thought that everything is OK, and that is why when things changed there was nobody to support USSR Communist Party elites.
