Yes, and no. I made a big deal about it because articles get written on 23 about medical issues. By requiring my data to be removed they had to retract articles.
I usually take your stance. But, I'm a bitch that paid attention to a specific topic that if you look it up gets a family member. When I removed my data, I nagged them into the removed papers on the topic.
What about the data they sold to a 3rd/4th/5th… party before you removed data.
Previously you had to take that data to a 3rd party to get more precise information. Now they want to sell that to you. If I lived in a different state, I may not have done it. But, the state of Maryland os very anti privacy.
Did you have a lawyer look over your original contract?
The paypal updates are that often, they have to be that bad. It's the only reason to update as often as they do.
They may not be able to "provide" the data, but do you really believe that they just got rid of it? Im sure it still exists somewhere. To valuable not to. Like I said before, I almost did one for the wing family project, but my dad convinced me to throw it in the trash.
Prolly doesnt matter anyway, like I also mentioned before. They have been doing blood dots in most states for decades now. Been a while since we heard about them too, prolly means they got all that data without a fight.
Seems like it would be rather easy to corelate all that data with 23and me and the other sites like it. Including criminal dna testing. I doubt theres much hiding in the system.
They had to retract papers because I was mad I signed up when it was all inclusive, and now they nickle and dime you. I'm not participating in any questioner that require parent to view results these days. They've made it so most people won't help them anymore.
No conspiracy minded person should have ever sent data to them. It's never going to be deleted. And even if it is forced to be deleted in some future litigation it's already being fed into some analysis system ("AI") which can never "unlearn" what it's been trained on
I used a fake name over a decade because I needed information for my kids. Since my kids weren't 18... I took took the loss. And it told me I'm not their problem. My ex-husband was their problem. Not the results I expected, but yay me!!
If you paid attention you'd know the day was announced in 2018. This is an extension of the agreement.
