Then you get this odd thing with the Jefferson pier stone.. beside the washington monument. Well, it's going with that line to the white house. But it's not the line of the washington monument to the capitol. It's this odd up a bit from there. Still in the lawn circle of the monument.
Use older maps. The streets had construction a few years ago that broke many of the symbols you're looking for today.
