Wasn't there something about that L'enfant guy was going to do the maps then gets sacked. Haven't looked into it. Then saw this old map of the Jefferson pier stone.. it was by water.

Then you get this odd thing with the Jefferson pier stone.. beside the washington monument. Well, it's going with that line to the white house. But it's not the line of the washington monument to the capitol. It's this odd up a bit from there. Still in the lawn circle of the monument.
