Spooks have been able to do this for years, based on knowing the model of typewriter, listening in on the Soviets at their embassy and vice versa. AI is just making it easier.
And make sure to pay for a VPN located inside one of the five eyes countries, or subsidiary banana republics under their control! It'll be fine. Just fine...................
It was a research study and it doesn't look like they open sourced their code
My guess is that they cannot use this on a random person, but rather someone who they have lots of data of what they are typing, the type of keyboard they are using to type, and how exactly it sounds when they are typing it to predict the words.
Microsoft/Apple/Google probably could do something similar, but would have no reason to since they are already able to access what you are typing on their OS.
That being said, if you are interested in machine learning, scikitlearn is a great place to start. The library is easy to use with a ton of functionality, all you need is data to play with (kaggle is a good resource for that). It uses python so it's simple to learn. I would recommend installing Anaconda if you are new to it all in order to get python up and running on your machine.
This article is directed warfare at you. If you believe this, then they are already controlling your actions. Simple Question; If they are close enough to hear your keystrokes, why not just splice a key logger directly into your keyboard? Clearly they would have access to your hardware.

Yea, much better to use a password keeper so they can get an entire database of passwords all at once!
