It’s been almost 2000 years since Christ was crucified. He was God manifest in the flesh, dwelling among us; the creator of heaven, earth, and the whole host of them. Who came to willingly lay down His life as a sacrifice, for our sins, to enact His Fathers will, so that all who believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.
So be careful “Christians”, unless you trample underfoot the Son of God, and profane the blood of the covenant by which He was sanctified, and outrage the Spirit of grace, by continuing in deliberate sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth.
Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
The gate is where you leave your sins and your will in submission to His
Amen
What's the conspiracy?
(I'm totally kidding. This is THE conspiracy for sure.)
Amen. This is the bottom of the rabbit hole.
On the subject, I recently heard a great connection with Jesus in the Old Testament. You know how Abraham, the father of Isaac, was climbing the mountain to offer his son as an offering? Similar to God and Jesus. Also, Isaac was carrying the wood, same as Jesus. His son didn't die and was the beginning of God's promise to Abraham, similar to Jesus.
It's amazing how God's word is true on so many levels that to this day, we can still find new and amazing discoveries...
Yes spot on. Abraham even called that place “The LORD will provide” which was a foreshadowing to the future sacrifice that God would one day provide in our stead: Jesus Christ
Some years ago, when I first thought deeply about the "narrow gate", I wondered, "How you would detect someone actually trying to follow this path?"
I thought that, in our mundane world, you'd hear someone say something like, "Well, that's just the best I'm able to figure out so far, and so that's what I'm trying to do." That reflects an imperfection in knowledge, morality and will, and an awareness of it, and the struggle to perfect them all. In addition, an acknowledgement of possible error reflects the humility that Jesus always encouraged.
Fast-forward and I observed you virtually never hear anything like that. It's a sad realization to come to. Anyway, all this is just the best I'm able to figure out so far.
"This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy[a] all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."
1 Samuel 15:2-3
How is this not true of every living thing?
What you just said is a classic form of blasphemy and buys into the the original lie from Satan to Eve.
But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:4-5 ESV)
Because Jesus comes directly from God, while we are a copy of a copy of a copy, etc. There's a big black book that explains everything.
