While the 1990s and early 2000s mrna research did result in 100% mortality for the mice ferrets and other animals, they didn't have access to cancer treatments and medications like we do. I see a lot of people getting cancers but pulling through. I'm optimistic the population decline shouldn't be as extreme as I originally thought.
Why does that make you optimistic?

Because even though the animals died, they died without treatment available like we have. Seeing people beat cancers that would have certainly killed the test animals is good thing
Most people are sterile if they survive cancer. Not because there aren't ways to prevent that, but because insurance won't pay for them. I worked with someone that was working just to stay alive, meaning no money after paying for insurance and cancer treatment.
The reality of this world is harsh.
Cancer treatments are about the same as the 1970s. The fatality rate for cancer has declined only due to earlier and earlier detection due to better imaging technologies.
