Baphomet is an invented pagan or gnostic idol or deity that the Templars were accused of worshipping and that was later embraced by various occult and mystical writers. The first known mention of Baphomet was in 1098 by Anselm of Ribemont describing the Siege of Antioch during the First Crusade.2 It first appeared in trial transcripts for the Knights Templar starting in 1307.1 We should know and care about Baphomet because we should at least know what we’re fighting against whenever we encounter a Satanist or occultist symbol such as a goat’s head https://www.christianity.com/wiki/angels-and-demons/who-is-baphomet.html
