In the 80s, bread had a 3 day shelf life. Check what's on it now.

Milk was a week or so. Now it's a month.

Produce is all fake now. Tomatoes, squash, bananas, apples. All fake. Possums dont eat the produce from the store. Potatoes and onions are real.

Meat dept. Most cuts are not done at store level anymore, they are cut somewhere else and packaged. Suspect imo.

Treat red meat with carbon monoxide to keep that fresh looking red color on the surface. The inside will still turn brown with age.

Genetically engineered modified to the point of not really being what it used to be.

Tomatoes lasting for weeks. I talked to a produce mgr recently and he told me that he hadn't thrown out an apple in 8 months.

For the 1940s it was:

1 pint milk, 1 egg, 1 potato and two other vegetables., 2 servings of fruit, 1 serving of meat or fish, 1oz butter

Today it's just goyslop, bugs and soy.

do you have nutriscore system in the States? they put labels on food A through E to show you how good for your health a given product is. so they'll put D on butter, and B on sugar-free coke. this is ridiculous, but I guess it's just a dumbed down version of of the nutritional value and calorie info we've been putting on food packages for decades.
