Well, I dont like ragging people for their beliefs.

But if the world was curved, it would look more like a curved lense, something like an eyeball because light is traveling and being bent as it travels through a medium. (We wont even talk about how gravity can bend light or how the speed of light can change as it travels through different mediums)

It's part of the same reason you can see heat dissipating through air, roads reflecting images on the horizon, mirages.
