ChatGPT is a very dumb tool that just provide most probable continuation of some sentence based on texts it was trained on. So, of course if you train it on all text and conversations of dead person, you will be able to have kind of conversation where this dumb thing will just reply you with most probable sentences of dead person. However, that will not look like real conversation to any sane person, as it advertised. It will be more creepy, than pleasing, like fraud psychic spiritual session where swindler who get to know few things about dead person try to think out "spirit of dead person answers" to make some profit from stupid victim. And if psychic being swindler still a human, so conversation is a human minds result in the end, this ChatGPT deeply in a region of uncanny valley.
Funny how really interesting and relatively old things about fake conversations and text generation like ELISA chat bot or science papers generator SCIgen are completely unnoticed, even after few "scientific" papers generated by SCIgen was published by real peer-reviewed scientific journals. And that things are opensource, tiny, fast and don't need tons of resources or extensive training on petabytes of data to do the job.
As for real goal of that thing, IDK, may be it could be a push for more surveillance inder the guise of "creating your immortal digital copy". Allowing BigBrother to gather all your conversations to allow people to talk to "you" after your death. It could be used to push sheeple to force surveillance on their loved ones without them knowing. "to be able to "talk" to "them" even after their death ".
