lol, the battlefield is literally littered with thousands of these machines, how you figure a few hundred going to make any difference is beyond comprehension.

Germans already had exactly same fun with their Leopards (modified light version of Pantera, that in turn suddenly, was a clone of that T-34 with "fucked tolerances and specs"). Many of German tanks still rusting in Russian swamps. All ended with Russian T-34s in Berlin. Obviously, don't giving a fuck worked perfectly. We could repeat, and Germans perfectly know that. That is why that poor Scholtz tried hard to avoid that silly order of his masters.
PS: There is even a kind of hobby exists here - to search German tanks and other machinery in swams and restore them. Even clubs and hobbyist associations exists devoted to that hobby. Found tanks after restoration (if it is possible, of course) gifted to museums and parks.
