I predict that, no matter what happens, no one who ever thought (Country X) was winning will ever admit that (Country X) lost.
In this time of universal deceit, an unconditional surrender on the part of (Country X) after suffering half a million KIA can simply be sold by politicians, their lackeys, and all the shills as "giving (Country Z) the opportunity for a graceful exit from their brutal and unprovoked war of aggression":
