Assets of Yandex being 'arrested'... I would think the US would block any attempts at a foreign country attempting to block Google. Mostly bc Google is part of the govt. Why shouldn't we expect Yandex to be similar to Russia as Google is to the US?

This is simply part of the information warfare of the West against Russia. Yandex apparently wasn't going along with the program so they get "arrested". It's the very modern version of shooting "collaborators".
Oh great; wasn't Yandex basically the only place left on the Internet that you could actually search for things on (as opposed to typing in keywords and being given a curated list of responses).
