But those people don’t usually expand their conspiracy hypotheses into other notable conspiracies

I think you nailed it here, basically the entire point of such a hypothesis is to remove capability on other inputs that may infringe if you choose to believe. This is the same as the origins of the flat earth theory as it is today, much like many of the other brain drain time waste bullshit that is pushed.

I find FE makes me think more.

Every piece of evidence they throw at you supporting FE can be debunked by learning a bit more physics or geometry. It's been a good exercise for the old head muscles.

Good point the timing on this is really telling. Came doing save time as 2016 election targeted at alt right sources to mitigate their influence

naw man i assure its not that, alot of Pro Flat earthers were at one time interested in space. I loved space(or modern cosmology), all my favorite shows growing up involved space and or extraterrestrials. Even space conspiracies, like life on mars, or that we might have come from there millions of years ago.

ohh Nibiru was huge one for me too. I fucking loved that idea of another hidden planet on a 3500 years orbit. life on Jupiter's moons, space is so interesting that you could spend a lifetime just thinking about it.

its a time sink, the ultimate time sink. that alot of us fell into

the thing that broke it for me was the constellations. they never change and have been the same since inception. no matter what night, no matter what time of the year, if you look up into the sky you see the same thing.

if you look up at the north star on the shortest day of the year, the stars are in the same place as they are on the longest day of the year. all spinning around Polaris which is in the same spot. this shouldn't be the case if we were actually spinning around the sun moving thru the milky way

Unless those stars were ridiculously far away...

our "planet" has a tilt while it rotates, meaning the visible sky should also tilt with the planet as it travels around the suns. this is why we apprentilly have seasons.

all good right? well no because our view doesn't tilt along with the planet. the stars are in the same spot no matter what

No.

No.

Tilt of Earth axis to the plane of Earth orbit is fixed. Rotation around a sun does not change this tilt. However we look at stars from different places in different seasons, so closest are slightly change positions during the year. It is named parallax and that is how we know distances to the stars. There is another thing named precession, but it is a very slow process with a 26000 years period. So, no, stars are not in the same places around the year. Usual things for rotating bodies you could easily observe by yourself. Didn't you play with a humming top in childhood?

Interesting, why every single flat-eather never ever did his own research, never played with a telescope, satellite receiver, powerful laser, whatever, only copypasting same false statements and links to shitty fake videos for years?

They aren't, and humans have known this for centuries.

They look like they don't move because they're VERY FAR AWAY.

Take a ride on the bus. Look out the window. The grass beside you zips by. The barn across the field takes 5 minutes to pass by. The Sun doesn't appear to move at all (although it actually does). All of these things are moving at the exact same speed relative to you (the speed of the bus), but look like they move at different speeds because of distance.

I find it incredible that FE believers think they're so perceptive because they watched some Youtube videos but have never taken the time to observe reality.
