The problem with QC is that you need a lot of qubits to do something really useful. But as you increase number of qubits, the uncertainity of result grow too. So, in reality you could have either completely useless but working few qbits quantum computer that gives results with 80% of certainity, or completely useless many qbits computer that gives garbage with 0.01% of certainity instead of results.
And most interesting thing about that quantum uncertainity problem - if you discover a way to overcome it, that also opens doors to many so-called closing technologies, from unlimited, untraceable and secure p2p communications (may be even FTL ones) to all that zero-point energy stuff. It's like a Pandora box of things where each and every one is a direct threat for elites. You will not need conventional cryptography and money, including crypto, if that box will be open. Funny, but breakthrough, necessary for achieving all that overhyped QC goals you heard about, will instantly make that goals obsolete. :)
Obviously, elites don't need that breakthrough, like they don't need a breakthrough in thermonuclear power. So, we are observing decades long money laundering with high expectations and tons of hype without any practical result in QC and will observe it until elites will be destroyed.

It does not. QC is based on quantum mechanics that is incompatible with Einstein special and common relativity. All attempts to somehow combine them into Unified Field Theory or Theory of Everything failed, even mathematically. Phylosophically it means that at least one of theories is wrong. Einstein relativity crap is definitely wrong. So, quantum mechanics could be more or less valid thing. At least, it does not lead to numerous weakly based paradoxes and does not insist on dogmatic shit like impossibility of FTL.
The main thing in quantum mechanics is that it operates with probabilities, not some exact values. Qubits could have a different probabilities being in 1 or 0,, not different levels or whatever.
For non-binary computers check Soviet tertiary computes of Setun family. They operated with trits, each could have -1, 0 or +1 state, or, in other terms true, unknown, false, or whatever. They was more effective than binary computers of the time, but development was shut down in 70s when binary computers was forced by unknown reason.
