Absolutely. I take no one seriously in anything they have to say if they still watch sports. Fuck that stupid shit. It's meant to distract, dull, and demean you.
If you look at the origins of sports, like the Olympics in ancient Greece, such sport is to uplift and challenge humanity. It brings out our best having people compete against each other and more importantly, against themselves. Olympians got nothing but a crown of laurel leaves and the respect of their peers.
Then again, it's been made into a "bread and circuses" thing today for the major sports like football.
Does MMA count? I still watch that every once and awhile. That, and the show Peaky Blinders.
Edit to add that sports, in an of themselves, are great. Fitness and competition have a place! OP is bitching out the "muh football team" mentality as a proxy for real manhood that happens today. I also suppose making heroes out of sportsballblackguy when he's a dipshit otherwise is a problem.
I absolutely appreciate watching people excel themselves physically in sport. The human body is fantastic and strong and seeing athletes push themselves by being disciplined and strong-willed, while they are overcoming themselves is a good thing…
Idolizing these people and events is shallow and not good at all! These people that tailor their life around these things/event are pretty lame. So many athletes just whore out their bodies for fame, attention, adoration, but not all sportsmen are terrible people and physical excellence is not a bad thing if paired with good character!
Sports is soap opera with testosterone, for men.
My preference is nude strip chess against the all-female Russian chess team.
And that sums up the sad state of American manhood. Geeze, maybe Al Bundy wasn't so bad afterall.
No tellievision watching here, since 2004.
Have an over 500 DVD library.
A library of over 280 actual books.
And a half way intelligent smart phone, and a laptop I use where I can get wifi.
Agree 100%. Have you noticed how many people can’t carry a conversation unless it’s about something on TV?
i don't fuck around. my litmus tests are the moon landing, antarctica, and holohoax.
Sandy Hook is a great one. Where were you when...(ahem) Adam Lanza was rampaging (cough cough) Sandy (anem) Hook?

I have the first pick in my fantasy football draft, who should I take?
Fantasy football - Dungeons and Dragons for wanna-be jocks.
The time for games has passed.
