He knows they're going to pay for the reconstruction of everything that gets destroyed in southern and eastern Ukraine when it all becomes part of the Russian Federation. I saw that they've actually already started rebuilding in Mariupol.

when russia attacked crimea then annexed it, they rebuilt everything and people are MUCH HAPPIER under russian rule than under ukraine. same thing will happen in the eastern regions of ukraine
Yeah, I saw about a 20 minute video showing various locations in Crimea from before and then a year after Russia took over, and the redevelopment in just that short span was mind-boggling. I knew then that the Crimeans would never, ever willingly go back to Ukraine.

Indeed, sad story how Russia tried for so long to use all diplomatic channels right up until december 2021 when Russia provided the documents to usa and nato regarding the eastern situation that was developing.
The size of the ukranian assembly in the region clearly required attention as in the past 8 years of western nato countries militarizing ukraine since 2014.

He is not exactly playing dead. The main objective was to take control of the Donbass to protect the ethnic Russian population that lives there from the renewed Ukraine military offensive against them that was already ramping up in mid February. They will continue taking it town by town.
