We've leapt way over a line that was in former times commonly recognized, and we're now moving so fast no one seems to have noticed.

You know how news organizations and even ordinary people add "allegedly" when commenting publicly about potentially illegal acts another person might have done? That's to protect against legal liability, i.e. being sued for slander or libel. As I understand it, you cannot without risk even refer to someone as a "criminal" if they have not previously been convicted of a crime.

Now we see open accusations of mass murder and various other heinous acts. The accusers are no longer worried about lawsuits, and the accused don't even deign to respond to these infamous charges leveled against them.

I find it all quite surreal, compounded by the fact that no one else even seems to have taken note. Perhaps I only comment here for the historic and Akashic record.
