Not sure I agree with all his conclusions. But he is good at citing and referencing.
Had a rough time sleeping after I read Regina’s book. Not the first time going down a rabbit hole like that, but I think it’s slowly getting easier - maybe.
If it's getting easier it's time to walk away friend. Getting desensitized to this kind of material is extremely unhealthy and has warped many a good man. There's a pipe line between investigators becoming numb to it and then it's in their head so much they start to like it. If you're heading down that path it's time to get out and stay out before you end up on the wrong side of the fence. Seek mental health support if you fear it's already happening.
Good point. I don’t think it’s happening. It scares me - that this is possible, and by extension, I would be capable of doing something like this (given the right circumstances - see Ordinary Men, Gulag Archipelago). Spiritually, in terms of character, I want to be as far from that stuff as possible - which is where Jesus Christ is.
I try to space it out with plenty of time focusing on the good and what I can do.
The problem with vigilantism isn't so much the monopoly on force nor the morality but rather the ability to discern reality. Especially in cases as incredulous as this if there is no compelled discovery, then what do we use to ground the truth?
Great explanation. Many abusers were victims themselves. Only God knows the truth. We do our best to use our brains, not emotions. Gather what evidence we can, and base our judgement on that.
Above all I hope that we collectively avoid becoming the monsters we seek to destroy.
Which is why rule of law errors on the side of defending the guilty. It's not ideal but perpetuating the slaying of the innocent is even more abhorrent imo. FWIW- homelessness seems to breed exploitation and is an accessible way that the average person can make a difference.
Result was our police system to be reformed in to a system that abolished the military police turned it in to a civilian system and turned local police in to as much a lumbering system the military police was.
What does "forced to play" mean? It isn't something you would use to describe being abused. Is it being forced to abuse someone else? It's difficult to understand the phrase in this context when so many other things are listed out.

Another book is written by Sabine Dardene, called I chose to live. She was rescued by Belgian police after Dutroux's arrest.

What do you mean about homeless and average people doing something?
A lot of people don't care and just pass by. What would you do to help if you witnessed such?
Witness what? Homeless? I'd yell at them to get the fuck off heroin and get a job like everyone else.
You gonna give up your house so a junky can stay there?
I can't become a jew.
Maybe that is why the "elites" are looking to ban "killer drones" (at least for private use). Someone might do a vigilante move on these bastards.
In terms of discovery, it begins with raising public awareness. With more minds working on the problem the talent pool to solve the problem increases.

It's made me nauseous reading some of the testimony.

Fair question. To ‘act’. I used the verb described by the source, but to act is more precise.
