Viasat and Hughesnet require you to be experienced with installing the dish. So you will be needing a guy to come and install the whole setup and he will need to return when a storm hit and the dish moved a tad bit. He won't be doing that for free
for viasat that $70 gets you 12megabit/s and a whopping 40GB of data.
Yeah it doesn't make financial sense, Musk sells hot air and the last couple of years he's managed to direct all that hot air in to a couple of projects that will never make a buck when that time comes he'll be long gone.
Meanwhile you get fast internet in butt fuck nowhere where homesteading is affordable because land is cheap.
And no the military isn't going to use a publicly accessible network to control drones, it's far more likely half the starlink satellites are military use only using different bands.
