hope is the only thing people have left sometimes. it's a double edged sword. you can have hope that things can turn out well, even if all falls around you too. misplaced hope is a bad thing that too many people put their faith into

I remember the time before Search Engines.
When Yahoo! was about wrestling.
When DMOZ had curated subject guides with great websites listed.
When related websites had Webrings linked to each other so you could explore a topic from enthusiastic hobbyists.
When flaming skull gifs were everywhere.
When people posted links to the websites they liked.
When you could chat in IRC without some admin banning your channel (though channels still had jannies - but that was for griefers).
We all thought that was the future, unfettered freedom without corporate overlords running the show.
Then the normies came.
We called it The September That Never Ended
I also blame unlimited capital soaked into tech provided by endless printing

Just need to take over google by force, imprison the criminals for crimes against humanity....and let the 'do no evil' people take over.
