Perhaps time to think outside the box. What about “malicious” code that injects itself into other servers and devices to run the search engine. World Wide Worm of search. No centralized server to attack, no company to sue, just a practically impossible to eradicate self perpetuating worm made to provide search results without a corporate or political bias?
Stealing server resources isn't the way to go if it is to become anything more than a shortlived gimmick. If you need servers, someone will need to provide them legally.
I don't see an obvious way for a regular searchengine to be distributed/p2p; both the indexing and search execution aspects would have to be extremely redundant (i.e. inefficient) if the were to withstand the inevitable attempts at sabotage.
I don’t want to advocate for theft of resources and cyber squatting, but with every major vendor going the way of Woke and Weird it gets harder to trust any corp to do the right thing.
On the other hand, this forum had a search function I appreciated, but it no longer does (and hasn’t for awhile), correct? So, if it’s too difficult to have a search function here then I gotta think it’d be perhaps an overwhelming project to develop & apply to the entire internet.
In other words, I shouldn’t shout at you, “Do it!” because honestly I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. But I’d greatly admire your ambition if you gave it a shot, and I’d definitely try to support you in reaching this goal in any way possible.
I just switched to Ecosia on my iOS devices. My first two searches for Voat and Poal had them as the top hit. That is a good sign.
On Google the top results were why they are bad sites. Fuck Google.
Brave isn't DDG behind the scenes because they included it in the list as a search engine or DDG has a Brave crypto account, Brave is their own index plus Bing.
Everything that's not Google or Yandex or Baidu is Bing.
Here’s how we’re boosting online privacy together. Users that open a new private tab (also referred to as “incognito” by some users) in Brave will be presented with an option to select DuckDuckGo as their default search engine.
It's just giving the option for setting your default search as duckduckgo on Brave. Gotta dig deeper on this Anon. I know what you mean though, Brave search really sucks compared to Yandex
Wow. I noticed the search sucked over the last couple weeks or so and wondered why. And of course when it has shitty results, it offers to backfill with Google.
Other than massive servers and bandwidth, how hard really would it be to make a decent search engine? I’d go old school and have sites self-submit to be crawled. Have a handful of general keywords/categories allowed per domain. Base results on meta tags so the whole page doesn’t even need to be parsed while crawling. I guess it wouldn’t be as advanced as Google, finding strings of text 3 pages into a forum post, but it would be efficient and easier to manage.
We need some kind of opensource community searchengine. It won't be cheap to run though, and I wonder if people would actually pay to support it.
The world is too far gone anyways. We can talk once every Rothschild or Zionist tribe member is arrested and executed.
My God I love the way you think. You'll be second in command in my rebel army In minecraft.

Use Yandex nigga

Use Yandex (Russian Search Engine)
Yeah seems to work good unless you want anti russia stuff or local results like the coffee shop down the street.
I have been using yandex and I would say its much better than Brave Search.

...but Brave should def remove DDG from the list.
Is Baidu any good? I don't know of it.
Baidu is China. It's only useful if you're looking for specific things like China's internal politics.
But it is one of the few big search engines that's not Bing.
OK got it, does not sound useful to me personally then. Thanx!
This makes total sense. Serching for anything worth while is so hard.
i searched for the indi alt top music 100 on duck duck go
it gave me results from 2018.. and nothing newer
there literally is no search engine left that works as well as what we had
